Thriftin’
I went to a thrift store the other day that I haven’t been to in a long time. They had a bunch of VHS/DVD/Books, stuff like that, but I didn’t see where the prices were listed. I had $5 in cash I was gonna use so I was kind of selective, but I couldn’t pass up these two items:
I’m used to Goodwill prices, where they want like 2 or 3 bucks for each thing, so I got to the register hoping these would be under $5 so I wouldn’t have to use my debit card or whatever. Dude rang me up and gave me my total: 78 cents! If I’d have known they were practically giving stuff away I’d have been a little less selective, but I know for next time.
I’ve always liked physical media, and with these dadgum streaming services increasing in prices and ads all the time, I feel better having hard copies of stuff.
Plus, the streaming people can take down or edit whatever they want to. One of my big comfort shows is Roseanne, a sitcom from the late 80s early 90s. It’s streaming on Peacock, but they decided to run the whole show through an AI upscaling gimmick, so now a bunch of stuff looks funky.
They also cut out a bunch of scenes, added scenes back in, it’s bizarre. Luckily, I have the DVDs I can watch. You know I love my VHS tapes, but when it comes to TV shows that have like 9 seasons, that’s a lot of space. I ain’t made of shelfs! So DVD it is.

Baby Sock stopped playing Minecraft for a few minutes so I started playing Avowed on the Xbox. I really like it!
Speaking of Minecraft, we watched the Minecraft movie and it was better than I thought it would be. Real light and goofy.
I’m still going through your podcast suggestions. I’m digging quite a few of them!
